MUFPP Regional Forum Europe & the Eurocities Working Group Food Meeting

The MUFPP Regional Forum Europe & the Eurocities Working Group Food Meeting will take place in Florence on 20–22 May 2026, under the theme “Beyond the Market Stall: Reimagining Food Markets in Cities as Key Infrastructures.

The event will explore how food policy can drive innovation in urban food markets. Moving beyond traditional models, cities are testing new approaches that combine social inclusion, environmental sustainability, circular economy principles, and stronger links between producers and communities.

The programme will feature concrete city experiences, policy frameworks, and governance tools, reimagining markets not just as places of exchange, but as strategic infrastructures for delivering public value.

Day 1 will feature the CLEVERFOOD Italian National Dialogue on Food Markets.

Day 2 will include updates from the Eurocities Working Group Food and MUFPP, a presentation on Florence’s work on food, a visit and lunch at a local market, and an interactive workshop on leveraging food markets for sustainable food systems.

Day 3 will offer an interactive training for cities organised by the Urban Agenda for the EU Partnership on Food, along with opportunities for networking and engagement.
