
From 17 to 19 November 2026, the 3rd MUFPP Regional Forum for South America will be hosted by the city of Curitiba, in collaboration with Esteban Echeverría and the Comida do Amanhã. MUFPP signatory cities from South America and regional strategic partners will convene under the theme: “Connections that Nourish: Building Resilient Metropolitan Food Systems.”
South America is one of the most urbanised regions in the world and one of the largest producers and exporters of food. In this context, thinking about the future of food in cities means considering how urban and rural spaces connect and feed into one another, how the metropolitan networks that organise cities are configured, and how this coordination and connection can provide and guarantee high-quality food equitably to the entire population, in a fair and sustainable manner, capable of responding to frequent and increasingly disruptive changes in the climate and in the organisation of the
Connecting people, territories and public policies to build more resilient, inclusive and sustainable food systems will be at the heart of the upcoming MUFPP South America Regional Forum. The event will showcase innovative local experiences, foster dialogue across cultures, and encourage cooperation among governments, organisations and communities. By strengthening political commitment and mobilising resources, the Forum aims to support transformative initiatives for fairer cities that are better prepared for future challenges.
