Webinar: "Water and food system. A key nexus for urban food policies"

On the occasion of World Water Day, join us for the new webinar “Water and Food Systems. A key nexus for urban food policies”, taking place on 21st March 2025, in two sessions at the following times: 9:00 CET and 16:00 CET. This event is promoted by MUFPP, with the support of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and the Cariplo Foundation.

This session will present the third report of a series developed in collaboration with the Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation (AICS). Following previous reports on school meals and wholesale markets, this report focuses on water and its relationship with food systems within the context of urban food policies.

Water is vital for urban life, impacting public health, the economy, and social equity. Cities play a key role in managing this invaluable resource, as they are responsible for critical infrastructure such as aqueducts, treatment plants, and sewage systems. However, they face challenges related to pollution, overuse, and climate change.

Resilient food policies are essential to ensure equitable access to clean water, particularly for vulnerable groups. Sustainable agriculture and multilevel governance help balance urban demands with environmental protection. By promoting water conservation, education, and urban farming, cities can enhance resource sustainability and food security while addressing challenges posed by climate change and urbanization.
