Global Dialogue - Empowering Cities and Local Governments to improve food systems globally

On June 28th will take place the Global Dialogue – Empowering Cities and Local Governments to improve food systems globally. The 3-hour virtual event is a joint initiative organised by FAO, GAIN, the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments and the UN Food Systems Summit Secretariat. The Global Dialogue is part of the UN Food Systems Summit 2021 process as the dialogues represent a core component of the engagement process, and they offer a dynamic way  for a diverse range of stakeholders to explore their role in food systems and how they can unite around transformative actions in support of sustainable development.

The aim is to bring political attention and promote significant actions and commitments towards sustainable urban food systems transformation, exchanging perspectives of local governments representatives and various urban food systems stakeholders. The objectives are on one hand to share the results of consultations and independent dialogues at city level that happened between April and June 2021, and on the other, to unpack bottlenecks and facilitate an evolution of solution clusters that are relevant to, and implementable by, the stakeholders of urban food systems.
