MUFPP_TLV2018 starts in Tel Aviv

The Milan Urban Food Policy Pact 4th Annual Gathering and Mayors Summit starts today, 3 September, in Tel Aviv-Yafo (MUFPP_TLV2018).  The Milan Urban Food Policy Pact-MUFPP is a global commitment of Mayors from 177 municipalities around the world that considers food as an entry point for the sustainable development of growing cities. It represents the main framework for cities and international stakeholders active in the definition of innovative urban food policies for the management and governance of local food systems.
Signatory cities are gathering in the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, one of Israel’s leading art and cultural institutions, to exchange knowledge and experiences, participate in technical workshops, share their progresses and build new partnerships on 4 and 5 September. Here you can find the full program.
On 4 September, eight cities will be awarded with two monetary prizes and six special mentions during the Milan Pact Awards (MPA) ceremony: a unique opportunity to learn from these selected practices on current and innovative ideas and solutions adopted by MUFPP cities. The MPA reached its third edition and collected 157 practices on more sustainable territorial food systems.
MUFPP_TLV 2018  will deal with the latest topics on food policy, healthy and sustainable nutrition, food waste reduction, food supply in an era of climate change and green urban food procurement. It will also encompass stimulating plenary and parallel sessions, workshops and roundtables on Israeli AgriTech and FoodTech innovations. Additionally, networking and social events will be hosted, including international evening receptions, as well as some optional special tours.
Direct participation of mayors, cities’ delegates, scholars, international non-governmental organizations as well as governmental representatives will enrich the two-day discussions. The list of participants will include Israeli Minister of Health and Minister of Education, Nordic Council of Ministers-Nordic Food Policy Lab, C40 network, RUAF, Friends of the Earth, Meatless Monday, Let’s Food Cities, and many more.
Attendees will enjoy the forward-thinking atmosphere of Tel Aviv-Yafo, which signed the Milan Pact in 2015 and started to implement a cross-organizational sustainable food policy program, while gaining knowledge from cities all over the globe at the MUFPP 4th Annual Gathering and Mayor’s Summit.
