The School Meals Coalition’s Cities Feeding the Future and Research Consortium initiatives invite you to join the webinar Transforming School Meals Through City Action on 16 June 2026 at 11:00 AM CEST.
This webinar will launch the first case studies jointly developed by the Research Consortium and Cities Feeding the Future, two initiatives of the School Meals Coalition. It will highlight the role cities can play in designing and implementing quality school meal programmes that provide healthy, diversified, and locally sourced food.
The webinar will present the shared methodological framework used to document the experiences of Milan and Montpellier, two pioneering cities in sustainable school meals, and Champion Mayors of the Cities Feeding the Future Initiative. Through these examples, participants will explore how local governments can develop effective school meal programmes and address operational, social, environmental, and territorial challenges.
Bringing together local authorities, researchers, and international stakeholders, the event will also illustrate how collaboration between science and public policy can support more sustainable and resilient urban food systems.
More broadly, it aims to foster international dialogue on the strategic role of cities in transforming food systems sustainably.
