The MUFPP proudly announces its new Steering Committee (SC) for the 2026–2028 mandate. The newly elected cities are:
• AFRICA: Nairobi (Kenya) and Nouakchott (Mauritania)
• ASIA PACIFIC: Semarang (Indonesia) and Seoul (Republic of Korea)
• EURASIA & SOUTH WEST ASIA: Amman (Jordan) and Istanbul (Türkiye)
• EUROPE: Barcelona (Spain) and Lisbon Metropolitan Area (Portugal)
• NORTH & CENTRAL AMERICA: Austin (United States) and Mexico City (Mexico)
• SOUTH AMERICA: Bogotá (Colombia) and Rosario (Argentina)
We would like to warmly thank all candidate cities for their commitment and active participation in the election process, and we extend our congratulations to the newly elected members of the Steering Committee.
A special acknowledgement goes to the fourth Steering Committee (2023–2025) for their work and dedication: Addis Ababa, Baltimore, Bandung, Barcelona, Belo Horizonte, Birmingham, Dakar, Guadalajara, Istanbul, Jabalpur, Rosario, and Seoul.
As part of the MUFPP governance, the Steering Committee works alongside the Secretariat to guide the strategic direction of the network. The City of Milan, as Chair of the Pact, is a permanent member, while the remaining members — two per each of the six regions — are elected every two years through a participatory voting process involving all signatory cities.
In this framework, the Steering Committee represents MUFPP cities at the regional level and provides strategic oversight to ensure that the Pact’s mission and objectives are effectively implemented across different contexts. Steering Committee members are also responsible for developing and implementing, in close coordination with the MUFPP Secretariat, a Leadership Plan for their respective regions.
In addition, the Steering Committee plays a key role in: encouraging new cities to sign the Milan Pact; supporting the organisation of Regional Forums; fostering the submission of good practices to the Milan Pact Awards; facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration among signatory cities; and contributing to advocacy efforts at regional and international level.
The new Steering Committee will soon begin its work. In the coming months, members will present the regional Leadership Plans to cities. We look forward to working together to advance the Pact’s shared objectives.
