MUFPP at the “Rosario Climate Week 2025”: Challenges and Contributions to Food Security in the Local Context


On Wednesday, August 20, from 14:00 to 15:30 (GMT-3), the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact will take part in the hybrid event “Challenges and Contributions to Food Security in the Local Context”, organized by the Mercociudades Thematic Unit on Urban Food Policies, as part of the first edition of Rosario Climate Week 2025.

On August 20, the MUFPP will participate in a virtual event as part of the inaugural Rosario Climate Week 2025. This marks the first event in South America aimed at integrating a regional voice into the global agenda in preparation for COP30, which will take place in Belém, Brazil.

The Thematic Unit on Urban Food Policies of Mercociudades coordinated by the city of Rosario, Argentina, and co-coordinated by the Brazilian cities of Belo Horizonte and Porto Alegre — will lead the panel “Challenges and Contributions to Food Security in the Local Context” on Wednesday, August 20, from 14:00 to 15:30 (GMT-3), which corresponds to 19:00 to 20:30 (CEST, UTC+2).

The session will highlight the role of urban food policies as key tools to address social, environmental, economic, and public health challenges in the context of climate change. It will also emphasize the importance of placing urban food transformation at the center of adaptation and mitigation strategies within the global climate agenda.

Opening remarks will be delivered by Lautaro Lorenzo, Executive Secretary of Mercociudades, and Francesco Cagnola, representative of the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact.
