The MUFPP Secretariat is pleased to announce the upcoming webinar Fair Istanbul: Rights-Based Social Support and Food Security, open to all MUFPP cities in the Eurasia and South West Asia Region, taking place on 18 November 2025 at 12:00 PM CET (Check your time zone). This online event is organized in collaboration with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and its Department of Social Services.

As part of the regionalization process of the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact, one of the main goals of the Eurasia and South West Asia Region is to foster peer-to-peer learning and the sharing of best practices among cities.

Within this framework, the webinar will provide an overview of the innovative and inclusive social services implemented by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, in line with its “Fair Istanbul” vision, based on rights-based social support and food security policies.

The session will explore the approaches and policies developed by the Municipality that place human dignity at the center of social assistance, support programs that enhance access to food security, and showcase solidarity models built through multi-stakeholder participation.

Through Istanbul’s inspiring experiences, the webinar will create a platform to discuss how these best practices can be adapted and scaled up in other cities across the Region, ensuring social and economic equity in diverse contexts.

This will be a valuable opportunity to strengthen the exchange of best practices, foster collaboration among cities in the Region, and advance our collective work towards fairer, healthier, and more sustainable urban food systems.
